Business Events Sydney
Business events – including meetings, conventions, exhibitions and incentives will play a critical role in achieving Destination NSW ‘s goal of doubling tourism expenditure by 2020.
The sector is extremely high yielding, delivering strong visitor expenditure and making a significant contribution to the annual growth in visitor nights.
Business events also bring added benefits in terms of contributing to the transfer of knowledge, which can assist the state’s industry performance, and also enhance Sydney’s standing in the global business community.
Sydney is particularly well poised to generate growth in the sector in coming years due to the significant investment in new city infrastructure including the expansion and refurbishment of the Sydney Convention and Exhibition Centre; and the new business development at Barangaroo and the refurbishment of The Star.
Destination NSW works in partnership with Business Events Sydney (BESydney) to grow state demand for meetings. BESydney is a not for profits organisation with a membership base that includes venues, attractions, events suppliers and conference organisers.
Destination NSW holds a seat on the BESydney Board, is a principal investor and supports the organisation’s promotional activities in national and international markets.
