The episode, secured by the NSW Government’s tourism and major events agency Destination NSW, is part of a campaign aimed at driving additional bookings and package sales during the Winter 2015 season.
‘The episode will provide audiences with a valuable insight into this World Heritage-listed paradise and encourage families and couples to consider Lord Howe Island for their next holiday,’ Mrs Williams said.
‘Lord Howe Island is truly a special place during the winter season.
‘Visitors can take advantage of the quieter period and indulge in fresh seasonal produce at award-winning restaurants and experience the many outdoor activities from bush walking, fishing, stand up paddle-boarding to just relaxing on the secluded beaches with a good book in hand,’ Mrs Williams said.
The Sydney Weekender episode will uncover some of the island’s unique products and experiences including: snorkelling with Islander Cruises, a boat ride and fishing on the MV Fin, dining at Fin’s kitchen, accommodation at Pinetrees Lodge and a massage and dinner at Arajilla Resort.
Set to air at 5.30 pm this Sunday, 10 May, on the Seven Network in Sydney and on the Prime Network across NSW and the ACT, the episode will feature two segments on Lord Howe Island and highlight the region’s unique qualities which make for a perfect island getaway.
Minister for Trade, Tourism and Major Events, Stuart Ayres said we must continue to promote the variety of destinations and key experiences on offer across NSW to help us achieve the NSW Government’s goal of doubling overnight visitor expenditure by 2020.
‘In the year ending December 2014, Regional NSW experienced more than 50 million domestic and international visitors, delivering up to $13.6 billion in overnight visitor expenditure. These figures cement the importance of promoting such destinations and Sydney Weekender provides the ideal platform through which to do this,’ Mr Ayres said.
