Destination NSW provides reports on international aviation capacity in NSW. They include information on air capacity into NSW international airport, changes in capacity as well as information on seats and short-term visitor arrivals by top 10 country markets by carrier.

International visitor arrivals - year ending August 2023

NSW maintained its leading position for international arrivals to Australia in the year ending August 2023, attracting 37.4 per cent of international visitors in the year ending August 2023, which was 1.7 per cent more than the same period in 2022. For the month of August, NSW received 38.2 per cent of international visitors, 3.5 per cent more than August 2022.

International short-term visitor arrivals to NSW were 31.5 per cent below year ending August 2019 levels. In the month of August 2023, NSW received 230,460 short-term visitor arrivals, down 18.5 per cent compared with August 2019. However, both yearly and monthly arrivals saw a considerable increase from the same periods in 2022 respectively.

All top five source markets in the year ending August 2023 marked an increase as compared to year ending August 2022. New Zealand holds the first place for the highest number of overseas arrivals to NSW followed by China and the United States. The arrivals from China have been on a continued rise this year and ranked as NSW's number two source
market for the second consecutive month.
