Major hotel groups are building new properties and upgrading existing ones in preparation for the influx of visitors to Western Sydney following the opening of Western Sydney International Airport and Powerhouse Parramatta in 2026.
Marriott International has announced it will introduce the Marriott Hotels brand to Western Sydney in mid-2027.
The Sydney Marriott Hotel Parramatta will be located on Church Street as part of a mixed-use development that will include residential apartments and retail and commercial tenancies, with construction already underway.
Marriott International Vice President - Developments, ANZP Richard Crawford said: “The signing of Sydney Marriott Hotel Parramatta marks Marriott Hotel’s debut in Parramatta, a city experiencing significant public and private investment as it evolves into Sydney’s second CBD.
“With strong demand drivers across commerce, technology, education, and the arts, Parramatta is a strategic location for Marriott’s expansion. We are very confident that a Marriott Hotel offering the benefits of a full-service international hotel, will have excellent prospects of long-term success.”

PARKROYAL Parramatta recently unveiled an extensive refurbishment to capitalise on its strategic location less than 30 minutes from Sydney International Airport and approximately 30 minutes from the soon to open Western Sydney International Airport.
PARKROYAL Parramatta Manager Hans Joachim said: "As our region continues to flourish into a haven that blends modern luxury with the rich cultural heritage of the community, we are excited that PARKROYAL Parramatta is at the forefront.”
Sydney Tourism Taskforce Chair Fazila Farhad said “We welcome the investment into the renovation of PARKROYAL Parramatta and are excited for visitors to the region to experience this elevated offering. As the third largest economy in Australia and fastest growing region in the country with a population nearing three million, Western Sydney is poised for significant tourism growth.
“The new airport is expected to bring in 10 million passengers, presenting an opportunity to showcase the region’s diverse attractions, from historical landmarks and vibrant arts to culinary experiences and adventure parks. Hotels play a crucial role in the visitor economy, providing the foundation for travellers to stay, spend, and explore. With major developments like the Riverside area and CommBank Stadium, Western Sydney is emerging as a must-visit international destination.”

Accor opened Penrith’s first five-star hotel the Pullman Sydney Penrith and Western Sydney Conference Centre (WSCC) in late 2023.
Last month WSCC and Panthers Precinct announced they were combining their offerings to create a premier, one-stop destination for corporate gatherings.
With more than 4000sqm of event space the Panthers Precinct has the ability to host up to 2800 people seated and up to 10,000 in an exhibition-style set up.
General Manager Charles Young said: "As we prepare for the WSI opening and tackle the international market, it made perfect sense to refine our offering and align the WSCC and Panthers Precinct as a one-stop destination for domestic and international MICE programs.
"By combining the WSCC's state-of-the-art facilities with the precinct's unique experiences, we've created a truly unforgettable destination.
"From exclusive access to sporting legends, fine cuisine and a location right at the foot of the Blue Mountains, there’s nowhere else in the world with this type of offering and there are truly endless possibilities at the conference organisers' fingertips.
"This new chapter for the precinct aims to bring meetings and events to the forefront of Western Sydney, with the precinct team equally committed to playing a pivotal role in putting the region on the global map."
