Minister for Tourism and Major Events Adam Marshall said the television commercials, which will be seen by more than four million viewers across Australia, will inspire and motivate people to book their next holiday in Sydney.
“Sydney is stunning all year round, but particularly in Summer and this campaign is about putting our city’s world-class beauty and attractions front and centre to ensure we continue to be the number one State for visitors,” Mr Marshall said.
“Whether it’s our beautiful beaches, great food and wine experiences or major cultural events such as the Sydney Festival or Sydney International Art Series, our city really does turn it on over Summer.”
In addition to the television commercials, the campaign will include outdoor and digital advertising.
Destination NSW Chief Executive Officer Sandra Chipchase said the commercials will also encourage audiences to venture beyond the city and explore parts of Greater Sydney.
“I am delighted that for the first time since 2011 we’re using television within our ‘Sydney in Summer’ campaign to showcase the city and the surrounding areas at their sparkling best and remind travellers across the country of the many reasons to visit,” Ms Chipchase said.
“Whether it’s the Blue Mountains National Park, Hawkesbury’s riverways, Parramatta’s dining scene or Western Sydney’s adventure activities, we want more people to learn about Sydney’s surrounding regions which are easily accessible by car or train from the city.”
The ‘Sydney in Summer’ campaign, managed by the State’s tourism and major events agency Destination NSW, includes three television commercials; Sydney and Surrounds; Outdoor and Adventure; and Food and Wine/Culture.
The commercials will be shown across markets in Melbourne, Brisbane, regional NSW and on Foxtel from Sunday 15 October. They will run in two bursts – from 15 until 22 Octoberand again from 5 until 12 November 2017. The commercials will also be shown via a paid digital and social campaign until February 2018.
