Research by East Coast Car Rentals has found live music is deeply connected to the travel experience for Australians.

The results revealed 73 per cent of Australians feel discovering local arts and music, including buskers, is a key part of their road trip experience.

More than half (53 per cent) even plan their travel around towns known for live music, while 77 per cent would stop and explore a place if they heard live music or spotted a street performance.

East Coast Car Rentals CMO Ben Whitmore said: “There’s something special about live music on a road trip, it turns everyday stops into something unforgettable – we know music is a big part of what makes the journey special for our customers.”

Road trips key to visitor economy growth

Road trips offer flexible, immersive and sustainable travel experiences and have been identified by the NSW Visitor Economy Strategy 2035 as being key drivers of NSW’s visitor economy.

The NSW Government is investing in scenic driving routes, upgraded rest stops and enhanced wayfinding to encourage longer stays and increased regional spending.

The caravan and camping sector plays a vital role in this network. The NSW Visitor Economy Strategy 2035 identifies investment in modern facilities, eco-friendly campgrounds and improved connectivity as actions that will enhance the experience for road trippers and camping enthusiasts alike.

Destination NSW recently published road tripping guides for Shellharbour to Shoalhaven and Bathurst region.

Visit NSW also features a guide to EV-friendly road trips throughout the state. View the guide here.
