The NSW Government has made Board appointments at Destination NSW and Reflections Holidays to ensure our visitor economy and its diverse offerings can continue to grow.
The visitor economy is a powerhouse in NSW, supporting over 118,000 businesses and more than 328,000 jobs, making it NSW’s second largest services export earner. These new Board appointees will play a vital role in driving sustainable tourism growth in NSW.
Destination NSW is the NSW Government’s tourism and major events agency and will lead the implementation of the NSW Visitor Economy Strategy.
The Destination NSW board appointee is:
- Kirsten Andrews, Vice-President, External Engagement at University of Sydney
The NSW Crown Holiday Parks Land Manager, Reflections Holidays, manages 41 holiday parks on 10,000 hectares of Crown land reserves across coastal and inland areas. It reinvests all its profits back into the parks and Crown reserves it manages, making it the only holiday park group that is a certified social enterprise.
The Reflections Holidays board appointees are:
- The Hon. Adam Marshall, former NSW Tourism Minister
- The Hon. Mick Veitch, former NSW Shadow Minister for Crown Lands
- Lyndel Gray, Chair of Destination Sydney Surrounds South, former CEO of the Caravan and Camping Industry Association NSW and a former Executive Director at Tourism NSW and senior leader at Tourism Australia
- John King OAM, who is a current board member being reappointed and was a former Chair of Tourism Tasmania.
Minister for Tourism and Minister for Lands Steve Kamper said: “I am pleased to appoint five new Board members to Destination NSW and Reflections Holiday Parks, and I look forward to working with them to drive visitor economy growth.
“These new Board appointees bring decades of experience across tourism, digital strategy, communications and government and will play a crucial role in supporting a vibrant, sustainable future for the state’s visitor economy.
“I would like to acknowledge the work of outgoing Destination NSW Board member the Hon. George Souris AM and Reflections Holidays Board member Elizabeth Lyne. The NSW Government and visitor economy stakeholders across the state are fortunate to have benefited from their expertise and dedication.”
Destination NSW Chairman Sally Loane said: “I am pleased to welcome Kirsten Andrews to the Destination NSW Board. Kirsten brings deep experience in communications, media and external engagement – expertise that will be invaluable as we work to deliver the NSW Government’s goal of $91 billion in annual visitor economy expenditure by 2035.
“The Board looks forward to working with Kirsten as we continue to drive sustainable growth and position NSW as a globally competitive, year-round destination.”
Reflections Holidays Chair Julie Osborne said: “I welcome the appointment of these four talented individuals who will be part of a seven-member board overseeing Reflections Holidays operations, together with the other current board members including myself, Sally Barnes and Justin Hales.
“They bring a wealth of experience to ensure Crown land holiday parks continue to prosper and visitors can continue to enjoy nature-based holidays in some of the state’s most spectacular coastal and inland dam locations.
“The board positions are a unique opportunity for these experienced and talented individuals to contribute to the social, economic, cultural and environmental management of some of NSW’s most iconic locations, ensuring Crown reserves are managed appropriately for current and future generations.”
