Minister for Tourism and Major Events Adam Marshall said the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was the first formalised agreement between Webjet and the NSW Government.

“Webjet has been an important strategic partner since 2014 and we’re delighted to be formalising this partnership by entering into a two-year MoU with one of Australia’s leading online travel agencies,” Mr Marshall said.

“Our partnership has already delivered great success with last year’s Sydney in Summer Webjet campaign generating a huge return on investment and contributing more than $2 million to the State’s overnight visitor economy.

“With more than five million people using Webjet each month, we look forward to keeping our sparkling Harbour City and incredible rural and regional destinations front and centre and continuing to drive visitation across the State.”

Mr Marshall said the MoU would also provide an opportunity to leverage two of the State’s biggest seasonal marketing campaigns.

“Our agreement with Webjet will promote our Sydney in Summer and Sydney in Winter campaigns, highlighting some of our best attractions, surrounding regions and major events including Vivid Sydney 2018, the world’s largest festival of light, music and ideas,” Mr Marshall said.

“Maintaining strong relationships with key industry players is critical to attracting more visitors to NSW and we look forward to working with Webjet to maximise the tourism opportunities the new agreement delivers for the State over the coming two years.”

The Webjet MoU will promote Sydney and rural and regional NSW through a combination of flights, accommodation, holiday packages and car hire.
