This December, Qantas will become the first airline in the world to operate a non-stop route between Las Vegas and Australia.

The new seasonal Las Vegas-Sydney service will run through to March 2027. This becomes the airline’s eighth city across North and South America, joining Los Angeles, San Francisco, Honolulu, Dallas, New York, Vancouver and Santiago.

Qantas International CEO Cam Wallace said: "Our historic fleet renewal is giving us the flexibility to deploy aircraft where we see demand, opening up route possibilities that simply weren't there before.

"Las Vegas becomes our 101st destination and is a great example of how we're using that capability. This growth also creates real opportunities for our people, particularly our pilots and cabin crew, as we expand where we fly."

Minister for Trade and Tourism, Don Farrell said that new direct flight between Sydney and Las Vegas was a major win for travellers and will make it easier than ever for visitors from the United States to experience Australia’s spectacular tourism offering.

“The flow of people between our countries has never been stronger. Last year 745,000 Americans visited Australia, and we look forward to welcoming even more visitors down under with the commencement of these new direct flights."

There were 469,700 US visitors to NSW in the year ending September 2025, up 4.2 per cent year-on-year. The US was the second largest international visitor market for NSW during the period behind China.

Australian Bureau of Statistics data shows the US visitor market is maintaining its strong growth trajectory. It was the largest source market for visitors to NSW in December 2025, with 53,270 US visitors to the state during the period, up from 48,060 in December 2024.
