Destination NSW has partnered with research agency FiftyFive5 to develop experience-focused research into the domestic market.

It provides insight into the experiences that appeal to Australian visitors in NSW.

The NSW Visitor Economy Strategy 2035 aims to elevate Sydney as a global city of culture, business and 24-hour energy, delivering urban sophistication, dynamic events, culture and culinary diversity.

The Strategy also highlights how Western Sydney’s diverse communities, cultural vibrancy and expanding visitor infrastructure are positioning the region as a leading destination for both domestic and international travellers.

Cities across the state also offer compelling urban experiences ranging paddock-to-plate dining, vibrant festivals, sporting events and nightlife.

The State of Play: urban tourism research focuses on experiences including:

  • Dining out
  • Shopping
  • Dance/ music festivals
  • Bar hopping, nightlife & clubbing
  • Sports events
  • Fun parks and theme parks
  • Carnivals.
