Overview

In the year ended December 2025, regional NSW welcomed 62.8 million domestic visitors, who spent $25.0 billion in the state. Domestic overnight visitors stayed a total of 84.5 million nights.

Regional NSW also welcomed 727,200 international visitors. They stayed 17.7 million nights and spent $1.3 billion in regional NSW.

Note: Due to the program transition from the National Visitor Survey (NVS) to Domestic Tourism Statistics (DoTS) program, total domestic tourism figures for tourism regions are available from the June quarter 2025 only, while international visitation data remains unchanged. Learn more here.

Tourism Research Australia reports visitor profiles for local government areas in regional Australia. These profiles cover local tourism businesses, international visitors, domestic overnight travellers and domestic daytrip visitors.
