The Corporate Services division brings together specialist support services, including finance, legal, procurement, risk, governance, strategy, research and insights, information technology, board secretariat, general administration and facilities management.

There are four teams within the division:

  • Procurement, Legal, Governance and Grants Administration
  • Finance
  • Performance Assessment, Insights and Strategy
  • Corporate Operations and Information Technology

The Procurement, Legal, Governance and Grants Administration team provided advice and support to all of Destination NSW’s legal, procurement and risk needs during the 2024–25 financial year.

The team was also responsible for supporting Destination NSW in the administration and governance of the agency’s grant programs.

The Audit and Risk Management team helped to protect the organisation by identifying risks, ensuring compliance and strengthening internal controls.

Through audits and assessments, they support informed decisions and promote accountability.

During the period, a Legislative Compliance Register was successfully implemented with accompanying procedures and annual review processes.

Additionally, Grants Administration effectively rolled out the Regional Events Fund and continued administration of the Aviation Attraction Fund.

The Board secretariat supported effective governance by organising Board meetings, maintaining records, and ensuring compliance with legal and regulatory requirements. It facilitated communication between the Board, management and stakeholders, helping the Board fulfill its duties and make
informed decisions.

Finance

The Finance team provided financial management, budgetary control and regulatory reporting during the 2024–25 financial year to ensure Destination NSW complied with legislative requirements and made informed financial decisions.

The team also managed the delivery of external audit and shared services programs.

During the period, the team maintained strong financial compliance and successfully transitioned Australia Day team finances from Premiers Department to Destination NSW.

The team also successfully transferred Destination NSW Long Service Leave Liabilities to the Treasury Crown Finance Entity effective 1 April 2025, aligning with DCITHS requirements.

Performance Assessment, Insights and Strategy

The Performance Assessment, Insights and Strategy team was responsible for managing and analysing tourism data, reporting on industry performance and evaluating event outcomes during the 2024–25 financial year to support data-driven decision making across marketing, industry, government and strategic development.

The team ensured program governance and compliance through effective process management and reporting.

The team also conducted primary and secondary research, led digital transformation projects, developed business cases and oversaw corporate performance reporting and investment assessment activities.

Projects led by the team during the period included:

  • Transitioning Destination NSW to the new national DoTS program, starting from the March quarter 2025.
  • Embedding DoTs, enhancing reporting and delivering automated reporting solutions to improve efficiency, timeliness and accuracy of data.
  • Development of Destination NSW’s first Environmental Sustainability and Climate Resilience Action Plan.
  • Establishing the agency’s new partnership with CommBank iQ, which provides access to transaction data for enhanced research and insights purposes.
  • Assessment of approximately 70 events throughout the year against key performance metrics, including Vivid Sydney.

  • Creating a centralised research repository, the Insights Hub, as a knowledge hub for the agency.
  • Developing and publishing interactive dashboards on the Destination NSW corporate website.
  • Optimising existing research and reporting to align to the new Visitor Economy Strategy 2035.

Corporate Operations and Information Technology

The Corporate Operations and Information Technology team served as the central point of contact for operational efficiency during the 2024–25 financial year, proactively supporting daily needs while collaborating with other internal stakeholders and office service providers.

The daily corporate operations included managing facilities, reception, onboarding support, workplace technology including corporate systems, audio visual and end-user devices, and management of assets.

Additionally, the Salesforce team managed the program and related IT projects including the support of Destination NSW’s Salesforce application.

Projects led by the team during the period included:

  • Ongoing cyber security improvements including penetration testing and advanced monitoring of digital channels, AI-based email security monitoring, and password manager implementation.
  • Simplifying and streamlining the Salesforce user experience, providing easily accessible insights in dashboards and reports, and digitally transformed processes that are now more efficient and integrated.

Case study: Destination NSW partners with Commbank iQ

Destination NSW announced in June 2025 that it was partnering with CommBank iQ to harness de-identified transactional data from millions of consumer purchases across the state – unlocking powerful insights to support the growth of NSW’s visitor economy.

CommBank iQ, a data science and analytics joint venture between the Commonwealth Bank and Quantium, will provide Destination NSW and its Destination Network partners in regional NSW with access to Destination iQ – delivering insights to analyse and track aggregated visitor spending behaviour across regions and timeframes, based on CommBank iQ’s proprietary dataset.

This rich data source will complement existing research from Tourism Research Australia by offering more detailed insights. It will help inform marketing campaigns, infrastructure planning and investment attraction and support operators in identifying and responding to emerging visitor economy trends.

The partnership will enable regions to use data from CommBank iQ to shape marketing campaign strategies and business decisions.

As part of the collaboration, Destination NSW will also seek to publish regular data-driven reports on its corporate website, helping government, industry and local stakeholders better understand where visitors are coming from, who they are at an aggregate level and how they spend across NSW.

Providing stakeholders with faster and more granular data was a key recommendation from the NSW Visitor Economy Strategy 2030 review, aimed at ensuring NSW remains competitive in the global tourism market.
