The business events sector has been identified as a key growth priority in the NSW Visitor Economy Strategy 2035, delivering high-value visitors who stay longer, spend more and create year-round demand for accommodation, venues and visitor experiences across the state.
Key statistics
There were 7.2 million total domestic and international business event visitors to NSW in the year ending December 2025.
These visitors stayed 14.1 million nights and spent an estimated $5.8 billion.
Among these business event visitors, there were:
- 3.2 million domestic overnight visitors who stayed 8.6 million nights and spent an estimated $3.7 billion in NSW
- 3.7 million domestic daytrip visitors who spent an estimated $1.2 billion in NSW
- 343,000 international visitors who stayed 5.5 million nights and spent an estimated $928 million in NSW.
Business Events NSW
The Business Events NSW Program (BENSW) raises awareness and consideration for regional NSW as a premier business event destination and drives new event sales enquiries directly to venues, hotels and experience providers.
BENSW works directly with business event organisers to provide destination, product, experience and supplier information to help influence decision making and drive additional visitation, expenditure, and length of stay for conferences being held in NSW.

Business Events Sydney (BESydney) is responsible for delivering international business event opportunities and strategically significant domestic events for Sydney.
BeSydney works with local leaders and partners across government, industry and academia to identify, bid for and promote global meetings in Sydney.
It provides professional services, support and funding to international associations, corporations and event planners who want to bring delegates to Sydney.
