The Western Sydney Tourism Taskforce NSW Inc. is hosting its second Destination Western Sydney Hotel Forum on 21 May 2026, an event dedicated to shaping the future of hotel development and accommodation supply across the rapidly growing region.
As Western Sydney prepares for an unprecedented era of opportunity highlighted by the opening of the Western Sydney International Airport later this year, strengthening its accommodation pipeline is more important than ever.
The NSW Government’s Visitor Economy Strategy 2035 identifies the need for 40,434 additional accommodation rooms, with Greater Sydney accounting for 75 per cent of this requirement.
With this in mind, the Forum will bring together leaders from global hotel groups, NSW Government, developers, and tourism businesses to discuss the current hotel landscape, new development applications and project pipelines, occupancy performance and market forecasts and challenges the industry faces.
A panel discussion will feature Destination NSW CEO Karen Jones, IHG Hotels & REsorts Director Development Cameron Burke, Accor Hotels Vice President Development Brett Forer, EVT Hotels Senior Vice President Development, Brett Barlow and Holdmark Property Group Head of Development & Planning Elliyah El Khoury.
Colliers Head of Hotels, Australia/Transaction Services Karen Wales will also present a hotel industry update for Sydney and Western Sydney.
The Destination Western Sydney Hotel Forum 2026 will be held on 21 May at Cabravale Club Resort, Canley Vale.
