It’s a bumper month for regional NSW, with Destination NSW supporting nine grassroots events across the state through the 2026-27 Regional Event Fund.

Grants of up to $50,000 are assisting with marketing, PR, infrastructure and equipment hire.

The Regional Event Fund has been backing regional communities since 1996, with more than 650 events receiving a total of $17 million.

Among the events it has helped build from local favourites to national icons are the Deni Ute Muster and the Parkes Elvis Festival.

Minister for Jobs and Tourism Steve Kamper said: "The NSW Government is investing in regional NSW tourism, because we understand that when we get visitors into our regions, they stay longer and spend more in our great state.”

Events supported during September include:

  • The Gig (4-5 September): A live music experience for metal, punk and hardcore music fans at Orange Showground
  • Grazing Down the Lachlan (12 September): A foodie adventure set alongside the Lachlan River in Forbes that celebrates produce native to the Central West NSW region
  • Cementa26 (17-20 September): Four days of contemporary art, performance, sound, installation and workshops in Kandos
  • Henty Machinery Field Days (22-24 September): The largest outdoor agricultural event in eastern Australia
  • Woolgoolga Curryfest (24-27 September): 20 years of turning Woolgoolga's streets and beach reserve into a carnival of colour, taste and community
  • Goin' to the Gil | Under the Gums (25-27 September): A weekend of live music, food, brews and children’s activities in the Gilgandra region
  • New Annual 2026 (25 September to 4 October): Newcastle's flagship art, music and ideas festival
  • Pottsville Beach Triathalon (25-27 September): Formerly the Tweed Coast Enduro, offering a long-course triathlon and endurance challenge
  • Rainbow in the Outback (25-27 September): A festival celebrating LGBTQIA+ pride and visibility in Broken Hill
