National Volunteer Week will be celebrated from 19-25 May 2025, coinciding with hundreds of volunteers playing a vital role in bringing Vivid Sydney to life from 23 May.

The 2025 theme for Australia’s largest annual celebration of volunteering is 'Connecting Communities', highlighting the power of volunteering to bring people together, foster community engagement and create a sense of belonging.

The Vivid Sydney Volunteer Program, in collaboration with Casual Hands, welcomed 724 volunteers in 2024, who contributed 23,496 hours of customer service.

Volunteers will once again play an essential role in ensuring the smooth operation of Vivid Sydney, Australia's largest festival, from 23 May to 14 June 2025. They will provide information at city-wide booths, roam key precincts and support many Vivid Light installations.

The volunteers will share details about the event, accessible viewing areas, public facilities, transport options, amenities and general directions.

Volunteers contribute valuable skills, time and energy to the NSW visitor economy. They help to deliver important services, programs and activities.

Thank you to all our Vivid Sydney volunteers and those who support the visitor economy throughout the year, including assisting at events, welcoming cruise passengers into our ports and showcasing our museums, galleries and Visitor Information Centres throughout NSW.

People looking to start their volunteering journey are encouraged to visit the GoVolunteer website, contact The Centre for Volunteering (NSW) or approach organisations in their local community.
