‘I am delighted that Ms Menzies will be joining us and bringing more than 20 years of travel and airline industry experience to the role. Ms Menzies spent 14 years at Qantas, working in various roles and most recently as the Manager Sports Sponsorships. Ms Menzies has also held positions at Concorde International Travel and World Aviation Systems as well as Board appointments with the NSW Jockeys Trust and Visit USA,’ Ms Chipchase said.
‘Having worked in travel and tourism throughout her career Ms Menzies has skills in the areas of major events and sponsorship, co-operative marketing, trade events, business development and stakeholder management that will make her an invaluable member of our team,’ Ms Chipchase said.
Destination NSW’s General Manager, Industry Partnerships and Government Policy, Simonne Shepherd said Ms Menzies will work across a broad range of areas to develop trade and industry activities to build the capacity of our tourism industry and raise awareness of Sydney and Regional NSW destinations, products and experiences.
‘Ms Menzies will continue Destination NSW’s work in implementing the trade events and industry development focussed elements of the Visitor Economy Industry Action Plan and delivering initiatives across our priority international markets to contribute to doubling overnight visitor expenditure by 2020,’ Ms Shepherd said.
‘The role will focus on working in partnership with NSW tourism operators and both the domestic and international travel trade, to help NSW enhance its reputation and maintain its position as the most visited state in Australia,’ Ms Shepherd said.
Ms Menzies is looking forward to having the opportunity to work with a strong team at Destination NSW and the tourism industry.
‘Sydney and NSW are home to most of the outstanding products, experiences and events in Australia. I am looking forward to playing a part in developing our tourism industry and increasing awareness of what Sydney and NSW can offer,’ Ms Menzies said.
Ms Menzies will commence with Destination NSW on 23 April 2015.
