‘I am delighted to welcome Margaret Jack and David Baffsky AO who join an already strong and well-credentialed Board,’ Mr Grant said.
‘Ms Jack has extensive experience working in China, one of this State’s priority international inbound visitor markets, and is fluent in both Mandarin and Cantonese.
‘She holds several Board positions with leading corporations and is also a member of the NSW Government’s Export and Investment Advisory Panel, and was a member of the NSW International Education and Research Industry Action Plan Taskforce.
‘Mr Baffsky brings extensive tourism industry knowledge to the Board, especially in the accommodation sector; he is the honorary Chairman of Accor Asia Pacific and a founding Director and Life Member of the Tourism and Transport Forum.
‘He is also a Director of the Indigenous Land Corporation, a member of the Art Gallery of NSW Board of Trustees and a member of the Sydney Olympic Park Authority Board.’
Destination NSW Board Chair John Hartigan welcomed the new appointments and the breadth of skills and knowledge they will bring to the Board.
‘Maintaining a Board of Management with a wide range of skills and business expertise is pivotal to the continued implementation of the NSW Government’s Visitor Economy Industry Action Plan, which will help the Government achieve its target of doubling overnight visitor expenditure by 2020,’ Mr Hartigan said.
Mr Grant said NSW continued to lead Australia as the most visited State, with overnight visitor expenditure continuing to rise.
‘In the year ended June 2014, NSW welcomed almost 30 million overnight visitors, an increase of six per cent on the previous year. These visitors spent more than $22 billion, an increase of $1.2 billion on the previous year,’ Mr Grant said.
‘I would like to thank the Destination NSW Board of Management for their outstanding work in guiding the organisation to deliver some outstanding achievements in tourism and major events.’
