The projection will showcase an amazing visual feast of colour, light and movement as Doctor Who travels through space and time, pursued by some of his greatest enemies.

The Doctor Who projections will be displayed at six intervals throughout the evening of Saturday June 1, featuring music from the TV show including I am the Doctor. The first Doctor Who projection will be shown at 6.50pm, then 10 minutes to every hour, until midnight.

The Doctor Who projections will be interspersed with Vivid Sydney festival hit Move Your Building, an interactive projection produced by French design company Danny Rose.

For those who aren’t able to make it to Customs House, a special pre-recorded webcast of the Doctor Who projection will be available to watch from 6.50pm Saturday 1 June at youtube.com/vividsydney and will be available until the end of the Vivid Sydney festival on 10 June.

Destination NSW has collaborated with BBC Worldwide Australia & New Zealand to create the evening of entertainment which also includes a special cinema screening.

Featuring two thrilling episodes from Series Seven Part 1: Asylum of the Daleks and The Angels Take Manhattan, they see the Doctor confront two of his most terrifying foes – the Daleks and the Weeping Angels – and say a heart-breaking farewell to his companions Amy and Rory Pond. Sessions at Dendy Opera Quays have sold out but tickets are still available at Dendy Newtown and Event Cinema on George Street.

Destination NSW CEO, Sandra Chipchase, said: “It’s very exciting to be bringing Doctor Who fans this spectacular projection on the glorious Customs House. I’m sure people of all ages will be enthralled as The Doctor tackles his foes in 3D. Vivid Sydney has expanded significantly this year, and this collaboration is a fantastic example of how we are bringing more exciting experiences to Vivid festivalgoers.

“As it’s going to be very popular, we strongly encourage everyone heading down watch the projections to catch public transport, and plan to attend some of the later shows throughout the night.”

Sharon Wilson, Head of Marketing, Brands, Consumers & New Ventures, BBC Worldwide ANZ, said: “The Spinifex Group has done a tremendous job of creating a display which makes the most of Customs House’s amazing façade. It is fantastic to celebrate Doctor Who’s 50th Anniversary at Vivid Sydney in such a special and unique way.”

Vivid Sydney – developed, owned and managed by the NSW Government’s tourism and major events agency Destination NSW, will illuminate the city from 6pm to midnight every night until June 10.
