The NSW Tourism Association has announced the finalists for the 2026 NSW Top Tourism Town Awards, celebrating the state’s most vibrant, welcoming and memorable regional destinations.

Proudly supported by the NRMA, the awards recognise towns that deliver exceptional visitor experiences while showcasing the unique character, culture and natural beauty of regional NSW.

The awards program focuses on towns of all sizes that excel in storytelling, visitor appeal and community pride - key ingredients in creating unforgettable travel experiences across the state.

Finalists are selected across three categories based on population:

  • Top Tourism Town – Population over 5000
  • Small Tourism Town – Population between 1500 and 5000
  • Tiny Tourism Town – Population under 1500

Public voting for the NRMA People’s Choice Award opened in April and plays a key role in determining the overall winners, alongside judging by industry experts.

NSW Tourism Association CEO Natalie Godward said: “Congratulations to all the finalists in the 2026 NSW Top Tourism Town Awards. These towns represent the very best of regional NSW, offering authentic, high-quality visitor experiences and a strong sense of place.

“From stunning coastlines and hinterland retreats to country charm and outback hospitality, each finalist plays a vital role in driving the visitor economy and inspiring travellers to explore more of our state.”

NRMA Parks & Resorts CEO Paul Davies said: “The NRMA is proud to support the Top Tourism Town Awards and celebrate the incredible destinations that make road trips across NSW so special.

"These towns are the heart of regional tourism, and we encourage everyone to get out, explore and visit these towns.”
