Minister for Tourism and Major Events Adam Marshall has today announced a two-year partnership between the NSW Government and Cricket Australia to promote key Australian Men’s and Women’s internationals played in NSW.

The partnership, secured by the NSW Government, coincides with 50 days to go until the Commonwealth Bank Women’s Ashes Series Day-Night Test at North Sydney Oval in November.

“Cricket is synonymous with Australian summers and I’m thrilled that the NSW Government has partnered with Cricket Australia to promote these key matches for our State,” Mr Marshall said.

“These international series’ bring with them significant economic benefits for our State, with thousands of overnight visitors travelling to NSW to enjoy the cricket and many extending their trip, injecting millions of dollars into our visitor economy.”

Cricket Australia CEO James Sutherland said he looked forward to hundreds of thousands of visitors over summer experiencing Cricket in NSW.

“Cricket is truly a global sport, and particularly with both the Women’s and Men’s Ashes hosting matches in NSW, we’re excited to be able to partner with the NSW Government to promote the state and support the game,” Mr Sutherland said.

“Already we have seen huge demand for the traditional New Year Test at the SCG, with days one to three sold out. Sydney will also be part of history for our Women’s Ashes when they host the first ever day-night Test match against England at North Sydney Oval.”

This summer, NSW will host multiple matches as part of the Women’s Ashes Series against England, including the day-night Test and a T20 International at North Sydney Oval and two One Day Internationals in Coffs Harbour.

Sydney will also host the traditional New Year Magellan Men’s Ashes test, a One Day International against England and a T20 International against New Zealand at the SCG, completing a packed summer calendar of cricket for NSW.
