Minister for Tourism, Major Events and the Arts, and acting Trade and Investment Minister, George Souris, congratulated organisers on the new Vivid Music line-up and encouraged fans to make the most of the entire Vivid Sydney experience, on from 23 May to 9 June.

“Boasting world leading artists and creative collectives, Vivid Music continues to wow audiences, expanding this year into new venues and favourite Sydney haunts,” Mr Souris said.

“With Sydney set to be transformed by stunning 3D light projections and installations, Vivid Music gives visitors another unique and creative Vivid Sydney experience,” he said.

Brand new event Modulations at Carriageworks (6-9 June), curated by Stephen Pavlovic, welcomes headliners Pet Shop Boys plus the additions of experimental musicians Liars, iconic Sydney restaurateurs Porteño, and artists from LA indie label Wild Records.

Three performances by multi-award winning electronic pop legends Pet Shop Boys offer a rare opportunity to experience a spectacular multi-media production in an intimate and immersive environment, and their only Australian performances of their 2013/14 Electric World tour.

Cutting edge Brooklyn artists, Liars, have been pursuing the art of music and performance for over 15 years, and have just released their seventh studio album, Mess. The Quietus describe Liars shows as ‘beautiful, bizarre and brilliant”, and they’ll be performing at Modulations on Friday 6 June.

Porteño is collaborating with their favorite LA based record label Wild Records to present an unforgettable experience at Wild Porteño, a pop up restaurant / bar open each night of the Long Weekend. On Monday 9 June, they present the ultimate Porteño live experience with performances from Wild artists The Delta Bombers , Gizzelle and Luis & The Wildfires.

One of Vivid Music’s exciting new venues, The Basement at Circular Quay, boasts a full performance schedule, featuring shows from incredible local talent such Fishing, one of Australia’s most exhilarating electronic acts, who will exclusively launch their debut album during Vivid Music. Laneous & The Family Yah, The Big Village and the rap-obsessed Halfway Crooks will all make their Vivid Sydney debuts, alongside Australia’s future-soul beacon Ngaiire, whose first Vivid Sydney show will introduce keen new audiences to a wild, deeply moving and renowned live performance featuring some special guests.

A visual twist on SPICE will light up each night of the week with different colours, with each colour interpreted through music, food and visuals to stimulate the senses, giving visitors a unique emotional, culinary and entertainment experience.

Other newly announced talent for Vivid Music includes Holeandcorner, featuring at Home Nightclub during the Queen’s Birthday week, in an event which will see the club host its most varied electronic music line-up ever, including DJ’s Hot Chip and Mathew Dear, Guy J, Henry Sais and Cosmin TRG.

Further additions to the Vivid Music 2014 program will be announced shortly including Spectrum at The Argyle.

VENUE – THE BASEMENT

NGARRIE @ THE BASEMENT

Details: Thursday, 29 May, the Basement, 29 Reiby Place, Circular Quay NSW Australia 2000

It’s safe to say it’s been an incredible 12 months for Australia’s future-soul beacon Ngaiire, who performed in front of over 100,000 people in support of Alicia Keys, John Legend, Cody ChestnuTT and a headline appearance at Tropfest. Not bad for the larger than life Sydney-via-PNG artist, who only debuted her first record Lamentations not 6 months ago.

After four much-talked-about Australian tours, Ngaiire’s first Vivid show will introduce keen new audiences to a wild, deeply moving and renowned live performance featuring soon to be announced special guests.

For Alicia Keys it might be a tour name, for Ngaiire ‘Set The World On Fire’ seems more and more like it might be a prophecy!
