The Caravan and Camping Industry Association & Manufactured Housing Industry Association’s ‘Annual Awards of Excellence’ acknowledged some of the best holiday and caravan parks on the North Coast, including:
- The Rocks Village, South West Rocks – Best Caravan Park Residential Sector;
- Ocean Club Resort, Lake Cathie – Best Manufactured Home Village/Estate;
- North Coast Holiday Parks Urunga Heads – Best Holiday Park North Coast (100 sites or less); and
- Park Beach Holiday Park, Coffs Harbour – Best Deluxe/Resort Style Park (over 100 sites), and Best of the Best – Park.
“Congratulations to these fine establishments for being named at the top of their respective fields and highlighting the quality of the North Coast tourism and hospitality industry,” Mr Stoner said.
“North Coast holiday and caravan parks offer some of the best value, family friendly places to stay across the State, in some of the most spectacular locations.
“They are also some of the most popular accommodation types for overnight visitors to the region, with around 20 per cent staying at a North Coast caravan park or camping ground in the year ended March 2014.”
Member for Coffs Harbour Andrew Fraser said the Coffs Coast was well-known for its high-calibre holiday parks, offering waterfront views and beach access.
“It’s not surprising that the North Coast Holiday Parks Urunga Heads and Park Beach Holiday Park – which won two awards – have been named as some of the best across NSW,” Mr Fraser said.
Member for Port Macquarie Leslie Williams said the Lake Cathie Ocean Club Resort was going from strength to strength and has set the standard for manufactured home villages.
“It’s good to know our local industry is a top contender when it comes to accommodation preferences for visitors and residents alike,” Mrs Williams said.
Mr Stoner said the caravanning and camping industry continued to be one of the fastest growing domestic tourism sectors in Australia.
“The industry is helping the NSW Government achieve its goal of doubling overnight visitor expenditure in NSW by 2020,” Mr Stoner said.
“NSW is Australia’s favourite caravanning and camping State, with a 38 per cent share of visitor nights and a 39 per cent share of visitors in 2013.”
