“The NSW Government is committed to supporting the continued growth and development of our State’s creative industries by securing feature films such as Ruben Guthrie,” Mr Stoner said.

“This screen adaptation of Ruben Guthrie is packed with Australian talent from creator and director Brendan Cowell, to Patrick Brammall in the title role, as well as supporting roles by international supermodel Abby Lee, Robyn Nevin and Jack Thompson.”

Initially showcased in 2009 by Company B at Sydney’s Belvoir Street Theatre, Ruben Guthrie is about the highly successful Creative Director of a Sydney advertising agency, who has it all until he suffers a spectacular fall from grace.

Mr Stoner said Ruben Guthrie would highlight a number of Sydney and regional locations in NSW to an international film audience.

“The NSW Government is always looking for ways to promote tourism, and by showcasing a great selection of experiences to be had in our great State, this film will do just that,” Mr Stoner said.

“Films like Ruben Guthrie, together with Hollywood productions like Gods of Egypt, Unbroken and The Lego Movie, also help support our local film industry by creating and sustaining jobs.”

Ruben Guthrie Producer Kath Shelper said: “We’re delighted to have Destination NSW’s support and the chance to tell a story that has Sydney in its DNA – right from its beginnings at Belvoir St Theatre.”

Produced by Kath Shelper (Samson & Delilah and The Turning), the production has just finished shooting in Sydney with support from both Destination NSW and Screen NSW, with Madman Entertainment distributing.
