Destination NSW and Juneyao Airlines have won Destination Promotion of the Year at the Flyer’s Preferred Awards 2026.
The awards program was co-organised by CAAC Inflight Magazine, the official inflight publication of the Civil Aviation Administration of China (CAAC), and FlyerT, China’s leading social networking platform for frequent flyers.
Destination NSW Regional Director North Asia Jennifer Tung accepted the award during a gala ceremony on 22 April 2026.
Juneyao Air's first direct Shanghai-Sydney route touched down in December 2024. Destination NSW collaborated with Juneyao Air and Sydney Airport through the Aviation Attraction Fund to secure the service.
The arrival of Juneyao pushed seat capacity from mainland China to Sydney Airport to the highest-ever level.
The latest Tourism Research Australia data shows China was the biggest contributor to visitor growth for NSW in 2025, with arrivals rising by 16.6 per cent and expenditure reaching $5.5 billion.
Total international visitor expenditure rose by 25.1 per cent in 2025 to a record $15 billion.
