Luxury Travel Magazine announced the winners of its 2014 Gold List Awards at an industry reception at the 1888 Hotel in Pyrmont, Sydney, with Regional NSW receiving awards in the following categories:

  • Best Australian food and wine experiences / region: Hunter Valley
  • Best Australian property within driving distance of the city: Bells at Killcare
  • Best Australian ski resort: Thredbo Alpine Village.

Mr Souris praised the NSW winners and noted the wins highlighted the depth of experiences on offer in Regional NSW.

He said the NSW winners were well-deserving and the awards recognised the appeal of luxury holidays in NSW.

“For many people, taking a holiday is a well-deserved luxury in itself and I’m pleased to see these awards recognise some of the wonderful luxury products and destinations within NSW.

“I also congratulate Bells at Killcare, Thredbo Alpine Village and the Hunter Valley region generally on their respective wins.

“The Hunter Valley has always been recognised as the nation’s premier food and wine region and as Minister for the Hunter, I’m thrilled to see the region praised by the readers of Luxury Travel Magazine,” Mr Souris said.

Minister for the Central Coast, Michael Gallacher, extended his congratulations and said: “Bells at Killcare can best be described as luxury with heart. The Central Coast favourite offers guests stunning accommodation and exquisite dining at Manfredi at Bells, but it’s the little things such as cooking classes utilising produce from the on-site kitchen garden that deliver a personal touch to the luxurious offering.”

Member for Monaro, John Barilo, echoed the sentiments and said: “Voted Australia’s Best Ski Resort, Thredbo Alpine Village is recognised as the Nation’s premier ski destination and for the impeccable accommodation, food and dining and events program and I congratulate them on this achievement.”
