Two tourism operators on the Central Coast—Broken Bay Pearl Farm and Pullman Magenta Shores Resort—have achieved ECO Certification through Ecotourism Australia programs.
ECO Certification assesses businesses, through third party auditing, against Ecotourism Australia’s internationally recognised ecotourism standard across the four pillars of sustainability: environmental, cultural, socio-economic impact and sustainable business operations.
Broken Bay Pearl Farm, located on the Lower Hawkesbury River, achieved ECO Certification in recognition of its commitment to sustainable aquaculture and immersive, nature-based visitor experiences.
All tours at Broken Bay Pearl Farm are now ECO Certified, offering visitors insight into oyster farming, pearl production, and the role oysters play in maintaining healthy waterways.
Pearls of Australia Managing Director James Brown said: “As pearl farmers, everything we do depends on the health of the ocean. This certification reflects the way we’ve always operated, working closely with nature and adapting to the environments we farm in.”

Set between the coastline and the waters of Tuggerah Lake, Pullman Magenta Shores Resort has been recognised by Ecotourism Australia for its ongoing efforts to reduce environmental impact while delivering high-quality accommodation and experiences for visitors to the region.
A spokesperson for Pullman Magenta Shores Resort said: "At Pullman Magenta Shores Resort, achieving Sustainable Tourism Certification reflects our commitment to delivering luxury with responsibility.
"This recognition means we actively minimise our environmental impact, support our local community, and embed sustainable practices across all areas of the resort, without compromising the premium experience our guests expect.
"It reinforces our promise to provide exceptional stays that are both memorable and mindful.”
Destination Central Coast said: "Congratulations to both operators on this important achievement and for helping shape a more sustainable future for our region."
