Business Sydney has urged employers across Greater Sydney to bring their teams together and get behind the Socceroos this Friday by hosting workplace viewing events or supporting local restaurants, pubs, clubs, casinos and cafés screening the match.

Business Sydney Executive Director Paul Nicolaou said that with the Socceroos centre stage during the working day, businesses are encouraged to embrace the occasion as an opportunity to boost workplace morale, strengthen team culture and support Sydney’s hospitality sector.

“Major sporting events have a unique ability to unite workplaces and communities, and the message will get through loud and clear to the Socceroos that we are all backing them,” Mr Nicolaou said.

“Few things bring Australians together like the Socceroos competing on the world stage and this Friday presents a fantastic opportunity for businesses to share in that excitement and to give the hospitality sector a much-needed boost in the process.

“We encourage employers to consider hosting lunchtime screenings, team gatherings or flexible arrangements that allow staff to enjoy this important national moment together.

“At the same time, we encourage businesses to support their local pubs, clubs, casinos and cafés, which are an important part of Sydney’s social and economic fabric and will be helping create a fantastic atmosphere for supporters.

“Major sporting events are good for workplace culture, good for team engagement and good for local businesses. This is a chance for Sydney to come together and show its support for the green and gold.” said Luke Mangan OAM one of Australia’s leading chefs and restauranteurs.

“Major sporting moments like the Socceroos’ World Cup campaign create a fantastic atmosphere across Sydney and provide an opportunity for people to come together and celebrate as a community.”

“We encourage businesses to support their teams and, where possible, enjoy the match at their local restaurants, pub, club, café or hospitality venue. These events not only bring people together but also provide a welcome boost for local businesses and the broader visitor economy.”

“Sydney is one of the world’s great event cities and this is another opportunity to showcase the energy, passion and community spirit that make our city so special,” said Destination NSW CEO Karen Jones.

“The Socceroos have given Australians plenty to be proud of and I encourage Sydneysiders and visitors alike to get out this Friday, wear their colours with pride and support the team. It’s a great opportunity to come together and celebrate our national side, while also supporting local venues across the city.”

“I encourage Sydneysiders to get out this Friday, wear your colours with pride and support both the team and your local venues,” said former Socceroos Captain Paul Wade OAM.

It’s a wonderful opportunity to come together as a community, celebrate our national team and show the world the spirit that makes Australian football so special.”

“The Socceroos have captured the attention of the nation, and we want everyone to enjoy the occasion safely and responsibly,” said Sydney Area Commander Superintendent Paul Dunstan.

“We encourage supporters gathering in workplaces, pubs, clubs, casinos and cafés to be respectful of staff, other patrons and their local communities.

“A little planning goes a long way. Whether you’re watching the match with colleagues or friends, look after one another and help make this a positive experience for everyone.”

Business Sydney believes the match provides an opportunity to showcase Sydney’s community spirit, support local hospitality businesses and celebrate Australia’s presence on the world stage.

“There is nothing quite like seeing Australians unite behind the green and gold on the world stage,” said Mr Nicolaou.

“The Socceroos represent the determination, resilience and fighting spirit that Australians admire, and every supporter plays a role in creating that sense of belief.

“I encourage workplaces, businesses and communities across Sydney to get behind the team this Friday, wear your colours with pride and show the world what Australian support looks like.”
