Sydney has claimed a coveted podium position, ranked in the top 3 meeting destinations in the Asia Pacific Region, at a leading global tradeshow in Frankfurt.
Announcing their Top Cities list at IMEX, industry-leading technology provider Cvent awarded Sydney for its world-class venues and meaningful delegate experiences, as well as its safety and accessibility.
Singapore, Bangkok and Sydney took the top positions, ahead of Tokyo, Seoul and Beijing. Sydney also boasted two of the top 5 hotels in the APAC region - the Hyatt Regency in Darling Harbour and the Hilton Sydney.
The Sheraton Grand Sydney Hyde Park also made the top 10.
“With more than $20 billion in group business sourced through Cvent's platforms in 2025, these rankings reflect real market demand and planner sourcing trends,” said Bharet Malhotra, Cvent Executive Vice President.
“Congratulations to Sydney on this well-deserved recognition.”
The Cvent Top Lists are a resource for the global meetings and events industry - giving event planners a data-driven view of the destinations, hotels, venues, and suppliers. The Emerald City also claimed Number 1 spot in Australia in the latest International Congress and Convention Association (ICCA) Rankings 2025.
Sydney won the right to host more than 56,000 delegates attending 73 business events last financial year, ranging from the 76th international Astronautical Congress to hosting 61 nations for the 5th World Congress of Women’s Shelters, pumping $236 million into the local economy.
And what makes Sydney so stellar?
Speaking from IMEX, Business Events Sydney (BESydney) CEO Amanda Lampe said it’s an ideal place to inspire, connect and deliver global impact.
“Sydney’s recognition as a Top 3 Meeting Destination in the Asia-Pacific reflects the strength of BESydney’s partnerships and the confidence planners place in our city to deliver outstanding business events,” Ms Lampe said.
“As a safe, secure and accessible city, Sydney reduces the risk for decision makers.
“Planners chose Sydney for its world class venues and infrastructure, its deep industry and university sectors, cutting edge precincts and bucket-list destination.
“There is also strong interest in engaging with our rich First Nations heritage, with experience providers and dedicated spaces delivering meaningful delegate experiences.”
In a joint press conference with Cvent in Frankfurt, BESydney Client Engagement Director David Swagell touted the strength of Sydney’s innovation precincts. Cvent destination and hotel rankings are determined from more than $18 billion of global sourcing and request-for-proposal (RFP) activity through its sourcing platforms in 2025.
