New Australian Bureau of Statistics (ABS) data shows visitor numbers to NSW from five international markets lifted during July 2026.

Among the state’s top 10 markets, visitation from China (45,290 trips), New Zealand (34,630), Japan (10,270), Singapore (8380), India (8010) and Taiwan (7410) increased year-on-year.

The ABS reported the highest number of visitor arrivals to Australia for short-term trips was observed for NSW (247,410).

Overall, short-term visitor arrivals to Australia declined 4.3 per cent year-on-year to 710,980.

The three leading source countries where visitors came from were:

  • New Zealand (134,260 trips)
  • China (117,440)
  • United States (46,450).

The number of trips was 10 per cent lower than the pre-pandemic level in July 2019.

Visitors to NSW in July declined by 3.9 per cent year-on-year. The three leading source countries where visitors came from were:

  • China (45,290 trips)
  • New Zealand (34,630)
  • United States (21,760).
