More than 80,000 fans will fill Sydney's Accor Stadium this weekend for one of the nation’s sporting highlights, with the Sydney Roosters facing the Brisbane Broncos in the NRLW Grand Final followed by the NRL Grand Final clash between the Brisbane Broncos and the Melbourne Storm.

The influx of interstate supporters is expected to provide a substantial boost to the NSW visitor economy.

Australian Rugby League Commission Chairman Peter V’landys AM said: "The NRL Grand Final day is the most iconic event on our sporting calendar, drawing global attention and attracting tens of thousands of travelling fans into Sydney and NSW every year.

"This year alone over 40,000 tickets, which is more than half the stadium, have been sold to interstate and international fans, providing a huge economic stimulus to the local economy and a $50 million plus return on investment to the NSW Government."

Accommodation Australia data shows hotel bookings for the long weekend are strong, with 85 per cent of all rooms in Sydney already booked out by 3 October 2025.

Accommodation Australia NSW General Manager Stacey McBride said: “September was another strong month for Sydney hotels, with occupancy averaging 80.2 per cent - about 15 per cent higher than the same time last year - but this weekend is set to be even bigger.”

Ms McBride said thanks and recognition should go to the NSW Government for continuing to invest in major events – ensuring the hotel and tourism sector thrives.

“Our hotels continue to reap the benefits of major events, from the Sydney Marathon to the NRL Grand Final and this weekend’s festivals,” said Ms McBride.

“They consistently fill hotel rooms and deliver millions into the NSW economy,” she said.

Accommodation Australia CEO James Goodwin said: “The latest figures show that demand remains strong and Australians are still travelling despite economic pressures.”

Minister for Jobs and Tourism and Minister for Sport Steve Kamper told The Daily Telegraph the event was also great for jobs with almost 3000 staff working at Accor Stadium, including 245 chefs preparing meals and 1800 catering staff serving 22,000 cones of hot chips and 20,000 litres of beer.
