Hollywood legend Pierce Brosnan has provided global exposure to Sydney art galleries on his social media channels.

The actor, who has more than 4.6 million followers on Facebook and 2.1 million followers on Instagram, is a prolific painter and passionate supporter of contemporary art.

He is currently filming the third season of Netflix series Extraction 3 with Chris Hemsworth in NSW.

Brosnan posted on Facebook: “What a wonderful weekend of extraordinary art in Sydney, Australia.”

Museum of Contemporary Art Australia (MCA) Chair Lorraine Tarabay (above) welcomed the actor to the cultural institution, where he viewed the Connections: MCA x Tate and Tony Albert: Not a Souvenir exhibitions.

Brosnan had the opportunity to meet Gail Mabo (above) while she was installing her work and hear about the enduring legacy of her father, Eddie Mabo.

The actor also visited Justin Miller Art and Martin Browne Contemporary in Paddington.

Business Sydney Executive Director Paul Nicolaou said: “When international stars like the former 007 choose Sydney, the benefits go well beyond their visit.

“The traditional media coverage and social media attention that follows global stars provides Sydney with enormous international exposure showcasing our city as a world-class destination for culture, arts, entertainment and tourism.

“Sydney has so much to offer, and welcoming global names like Pierce Brosnan helps put our wonderful city firmly in the international spotlight.”

It was a busy weekend for the actor and his wife Keely Shaye Brosnan, who celebrated their 25th wedding anniversary together at South Coast winery Silos Estate.

Winery co-owner Rajarshi Ray described Brosnan as “gracious, genuine, funny and ridiculously good looking”.
